Sony is slashing off the starting price of their 13-inch VAIO SA laptop from $1,250 to $1,000. The SB series also gets a price cut and now starts at $780 from $800. Sony states that it's up to retailers such as Best Buy to set their own price protection policies.
The 15.5-inch VAIO SE series reviewed a month ago is also up for sale. It has 1080p display, Core i5-2430M processor, 4GB of RAM, 640 GB of hard drive (5,400 RPM), DVD burner amd 1920×1080 panel. The SE laptop will be up for only $1000. It has flaky trackpad and poor battery life (hence the $150 battery slice). The 14-inch C and E series are getting expanded to Sandy Bridge processor options. The F sand L series will come with Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum, Sound Forge Audio Studio amd ACID Music Studio pre-installed. The SA, L, F and E series are all getting speed upgrades as well as the pre-configured SB and Z series. The SB is also now available in red variant.
