Motorola Announces Rugged Tablet

 Motorola is rolling out a tablet that is aimed at enterprise usage. The hardware and software of the said decice, nevertheless, may be introduced to consumer-level devices in the future.
The tablet is named ET1 and is designed to withstand multiple 4-foot drops, bumps, scratches, spills and more. It features 7-inch Gorilla Grass and multitouch functionality on its screen. The resolution id 1024×600. It has a mount on its back for a handstrap so that it can be carried around the field, showroom or package deliveries. The ET1 comes with a RAM that can retain device data up to 15 minutes while the battery is being hot-swapped. Motorola will also release docking stations that allow 4 of this device to be charged all at once.

ET1 has 1 GHz dual core TI OMAP processor. It is also armed with a GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also has micro-SD slot and a 4GB micro-SD card that can support up to 32GB. It runs on Android 2.3.4 and contains enterprise-optimized software that allows multiple user login, remote access, remote wipe, usage/time tracking and restrict approved applications installs. The rear camera has 8MP and can be used in scanning 1D/2D barcodes. The device is also capable of capturing 720p HD video.

Ports include full sized USB 2.0 ports (2) and one of them has OTG connector, full sized HDMI port, Et1 bluetooth 2.1 ED, WiFi and GPS.

The Motorola ET1 tablet is to be available on the final quarter of 2011.
