Android is not made for keyboard devices, and now, we'll see an interesting product that will most probably not leave Japan. NEC has come out with an Android netbook that is 9.9mm thin! An early prototype of the NEC MGX comes with a full QWERTY that can flip back 370 degrees so that it can rest against the touchscreen display, allowing users to use it like a tablet. However, the keyboard suffers from the obsolete NEC MobilePRo single line of arrow keys. Since this is a prototype, this might be changed in its final revision.
The netbok has a 1024 x 600 resoultion, WiFi and 3G connectivity, and measures 8.5″ x 4.3″ and weighs about 0.8 pounds. We're told that we can expect 10 hours of battery life on an unknown processor.
It appears that the unit is running Android 2.3 but when it launches two years from now 2013 the source code of Android 3.0 may be available.
