Archos 80 Cobalt Tablet Visited the FCC

The Archos 80 G9 has started shipping last year. It is an 8-incher tablet with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution running on a dual-core TI OMAP 4 processor. But apparently, another Archos model seems to be on the way for the tablet space. This slate is named as the Archos 80 Cobalt tablet.

The Archos 80 Cobalt visited the FCC website just recently. It appears similar with the original Archos 80 G9 but the tablet's back label says Arnova. Hence, that would suggest an obvious added member for the Arnova line.

ArcTablet also implies the possibility of the Archos 80 Cobalt to be the first tablet of the future Archos Elements slates on mid-range line.

Limited data about this upcoming tablet has established; yet it is expected that the Archos 80 Cobalt will feature 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and might have the same panel aspect ratio as with the 80 G9. Hopefully, with the launch to be made in the US, the tablet will be availale active for the Android 4.0 and a better processor.

Meet the Latitude 10, Dell's upcoming Windows 8 tablet

Dell Latitude 10We knew Dell was working on tablets running Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. Now we know what one of the first of those tablets could look like. Neowin has published a leaked image showing a new product called the Dell Latitude 10. It's a tablet with a 10 inch display, an Intel Atom processor, and Windows 8 software. As with...

Dell to Launch XPS 12 Convertible Windows 8 Tablet?

Dell seems to be working on a hybrid tablet and notebook that runs on the new Windows Operating System. This product, named the Dell XPS 12, was spotted at a recently leaked photo published by Neowin.

The device carries a large display measuring 12.5 inches diagonally and has support for Full HD image quality. The screen also has edge to edge Gorilla Glass for protection.

Despite the size of the screen, the convertible tablet promises a thin and ultraportable design that measures only 0.79 inches in thickness and 3.1 pounds in weight. This is made possible by a chassis that is made of lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber.

The Dell XPS 12 is also expected to have a Solid State Disk and an Ivy Bridge processor, which would help the device qualify as an ultrabook. These two parts make it also possible for the device to have Intel Smart Connect and Intel Rapid Start technologies.

As for the converting mechanism from a tablet to a notebook, consumers may be somewhat reminded of the Dell Inspiron Duo netbook, another convertible device that the company is no longer producing.

The Dell XPS 12 joins another Dell product running on Windows 8 that is also in the works, called the Dell Latitude 10. It will likely hit the market later this year.

Gigabyte to Unveil the "Lightest Notebook PC on Earth"

The Taiwanese-based Gigabyte is branded as a decent computer maker– building real quality and performance PCs. However, this company isn't actually known for giving thin product devices such as an ultrabook to consumers. But recently, Gigabyte is spotted on the road of mapping a production for what they called the "lightest notebook on Earth". They are planning to unleash the thinnest product next week in advance of the upcoming Computex trade show.

Nevertheless, if this would be true, then Gigabyte X11 is truly going be the lightest notebook on our planet weighing at least less than the 2 pound Asus Eee PC X101 netbook or the 2.17 pound Mouse Luvbook X ultrabook.

Furthermore, with the connotation of being the lightest laptop, for sure a larger screen and a larger battery size won't totally fit this notebook PC. Hence, other unique features or even a removable battery would suggest for this one which you don't actually find in an ordinary notebook PC.

Toshiba Netbooks: No Show In the US

If you're an avid follower of Toshiba, then you should know that the company has already launched its first netbook running on an Intel Atom N2600 Cedar Trail processor earlier this year. But if you're daily checking if this tiny Toshiba NB510 notebook would passed in the FCC website to be followed by its US release, then you're probably waiting in vain.

Perhaps you would be surprised knowing that a Toshiba executive has already gave a confirmation regarding the plans of Toshiba America for not offering any new netbooks in the US. As an alternative, the company rather focusing on the production of ultraboks like the Toshiba Portege Z830 which provides almost the same thin and light features but with greater performance than of a usual netbook.

Toshiba isn't only the company that's pulled out netbooks in the PCs market recently. Also Lenovo and Dell are finally on the similar game, while Sony and Samsung are still free launching their new built models in the US this year.

However, the ultrabooks of Toshiba would cost a lot more staring at $800 compared with the netbooks which usually offer for $300.

Panasonic throws ultrabook parts into a netbook-sized case

Asus Eee PC 1011CX gets reviewed, receives fair verdict

We don't hear a lot about netbooks these days, and yet the category is arguably what set the whole consumer electronics industry on the fast track to delivering smaller, more powerful, and longer lasting devices for mobile computing. The guys over at Notebook Check recently put one of the latest netbooks from Asus's stable through a full review, and here's what they've found. The Asus Eee PC 1011CX netbook may pack rather mediocre, yet standard netbook specs these days: 10.1-inch 1024×600 resolution LCD screen, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N2600 processor, 1GB of RAM (not upgradeable), and 320GB of HDD storage, but it's still worth taking a look at because of the nearly 12-hour battery life. That thing about the RAM being soldered and not upgradeable may be a major drawback for some, but for most casual netbook users, this is actually quite adequate. At the same time, the Asus Eee PC 1011CX sits at a very attractive price point. Certainly much more attractive than most tablets and smartphones out in the market right now. Read the full Asus Eee PC 1011CX review via the link below.

Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II and Elf II Affordable Tablets Unveiled

Price indeed matters- this is the statement wherein most consumers usually fall to be their buying motto. Perhaps, it may even be appropriate for some sellers as well; in fact, there are makers specifically in the electronics gadget industry who are very particular in the cost probability of their offered product devices.

One good example is the manufacturers of the Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II and Elf II tablets. These two new slates, are reportedly keeping their prices down for the budget market. The Aurora II costs for only $190, while the Elf II goes for just $160. Great values for new tablets aren't they? Well, let's see if they also go with their specs right.

Both models have 7 inches screen display with a standard 1024 x 600-pixel resolution. They boast 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processors with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory storage each. Also, the Aurora II and Elf II will ship the latest Android 4.0 platform together with the Mali 400 GPU that was also on the trendy Samsung Galaxy S II.

Unfortunately, the two units are lacking the GPS and Bluetooth features- hence possibly one of the main reasons why these two tablets are made to be priced inexpensively.
