Its time to get that dusty netbook off the shelves you bought a few years back which you thought it could be your go-to travel computer, but unfortunately its lethargic performance was such a disappointment and you left it to gather dust in the closet. Well, you can dust off that good PC gathering dust, thanks to a worthwhile option: Lubuntu 11, 04, (actually meaning "light Ubuntu,") a fast, lightweight Linux distribution that could revive your old PC. It utilizes the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE), as its UI. It operates in a more or less similar to Windows experience, which means learning how to operate shouldn't be an uphill task.
Just like all Linux "distros," you'll access Lubuntu at no cost. Like several distros, it's not exactly that user-friendly if you're not a tech-savvy kind. Certainly, the product page as we saw it could be as confusing and unsupportive. First, most users will rush to download the "desktop-i386″ ISO version offered from the download page. Since netbooks don't come with optical drives, there's really no point in burning that "desktop-i386″ ISO version to a CD (a familiar option for installing Linux). Instead, you can install Lubuntu from a flash drive. (Even though instructions offered are for the normal version of Ubuntu, but applicable as well).
