Ubislate 7: India's $57 Android Tablet for Students

After a few new tablets from China below $100, another Asian country is producing cheap but very useful tablet, especially for students. The Republic of India has funded a second low cost tablet for education called the Ubislate 7, following the heels of the $35 Android tablet, Aakash. The Aakash tablet sold 100,000 units in a week.

The Ubislate 7 comes with the following features:

  • Android 2.3
  • 7-inch touchscreen with 800×480 resolution
  • Cortex A8 – 700 MHz CPU
  • 3 hours battery life via 3200 mAh battery
  • Wi-Fi and GPRS connectivity
  • HD video playback
  • 256 MB RAM
  • one USB 2.0 port
  • 2GB internal storage, which can be expanded to 32GB via microSD

DataWind will produce about 1,000 units daily of this tablet and it's expected to be released in India next month.
