Although Quanta declined to comment, industry watchers say that shipments of the 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet PCs from the said manufacturer to Amazon have reached 3-4 million units. It is further said that Amazon has continued to increase its orders for Kindle Fire to reach five million units by the end of this year or early January. No wonder the Kindle Fire is already the number two tablet after only two weeks on the market, but according to IHS iSuppli.
A major supplier of touch panels for Kindle Fire, Wintek, has recently raised its internal forecast of shipments to Amazon to 3-3.5 million before January.
Sources of Digitimes, however, pointed out that some makers in the supply chain have built up inventory of needed parts and components steadily, and OEM Quanta has also kept its shipments regular to avoid over stockpiling of inventory in case there is a reverse in order visibility.
