Acer to Launch a $699 Ultrabook This Year?

Ultrabooks are thin, and light, and powerful  mobile computers designed to offer portability and performance. Many ultrabooks with 13.3 inch displays weigh about as much as a 10 inch netbook, but offer full-sized keyboards and displays and far more processing power. Toshiba offers its ultrabook for around $849, while Acer says that it could be selling these little laptops for $499 by 2013 .

As for this year, Acer have released its ultrabook lineup due second quarter. Then in the third quarter, the company will also introduce more ultrabook models that will sell for between $699 and $799. At this price bracket, Acer ultrabooks should measure less than an inch thick, weigh 4 pounds or less, and have Intel Core i-series processors with either solid state disk or a hard drive for storage.

While $699 isn't exactly pocket change for some buyers, this still proves to be a much more affordable price than the $1000 or more offered by other companies on their ultrabooks today.
