Asus Shows off U44SG Gaming Laptop

ASUS quietly rolled out a new gaming laptop at the CES: Asus U44SG. At the convention, the notebook was seen running Portal 2 and doing quite will with it. The gameplay was smooth in possibly the high graphical settings. Anything with system requirements of Portal 2 may run in this machine smoothly.

The U44SG is a 14-incher equipped with Sandy Bridge processors ranging from Core i3-2310M to the Core i7-2640M. The laptop can take in as much as 8GB of RAM and you can have up to 750 GB of traditional spinning disk or up to 320GB of SSD.

The U44SG comes with Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics but it can also be equipped with Nvidia 610M video card as well and it comes with 1GB of dedicated memory. You can switch between the two for battery life. You can switch graphics with the Optimus Technology so that you want have to restart your system everytime you use one over the other.

Asus claims that the notebook can run up to 10 hours of autonomy. Expect a drastic fall in battery life if you game or any other hardcore usage of the processors and /or graphics solution.

The display is 1366×768 of glossy material. Ports include USB 2.0 and 3.0 and HDMI. The laptop is also armed with Altec Lansing sound.
