Sol Computer Launches with Pixel Qi Screens

Sol Computers are going to ship a tablet and a netbook with low powered Pixel Qi displays. Pixel Qi displays are unique for having two screen display modes. It can produce colored reception and can shift into an eReader-esque black and white. There's a price to pay for that, literally, as Pixel Qi's displays are much expensive than the normal display options because of its limited shipping volumes. The Sol Netbook costs around $749, twice the price of normal netbooks. It could have run in dual core, but it does not. The Sol Computer netbooks are running single core Intel Atom N455 clocked at 1.6 GHz processor with 250 GB storage, Windows 7 Starter and have 10-inch display with 1024×600 display. It is as light as 2.7 lbs.

The tablet in the other hand is much more pricier than its netbook counterpart at $1099. It sports 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor and operating in Windows 7. It has 1GB of RAM, 8GB-32GB storage in SD. It has 10.1 inch display and features G-sensor that detects orientation changes. The tablet weighs around two pounds.
