Gateway TP A60 Android tablet hits Canada

Gateway TP A60

If the Gateway TP A60 tablet looks familiar, there's a good reason for that. It's basically the Acer Iconia Tab A500. The key difference? This one has a Gateway logo on it instead of an Acer logo.

Gateway is a subsidiary of Acer, as is Packard Bell. For some reason the computer maker sometimes releases identical products under different brand names. We've seen it happen with netbooks and notebooks, and now it looks like Acer is taking the same approach with tablets.

While I doubt the Gateway tablet will go on sale in the US, you can pick one up for $399.99 from Future Shop in Canada.

The tablet features a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It ships with Google Android 3.1 and has a 5MP rear-facing camera and 2MP front-facing camera.

The Gateway TP A60 has a 6520mAh battery which should provide up to 8 hours of run time. It measures 10.2″ a 7″ x 0.5″ and weighs 1.7 pounds.
