ASUS paired the latest Atom processor with the Nvidia Ion graphics to make the 1215B the best in its class the squeeze the most out of it. But the result was not that satisfactory. Though the laptop was ultraportable but it lacked the overall performance. Though the 1215B shares the same looks as its predecessor – the 1215N, swaps out those components for AMD's 1.6-GHz Fusion E-350 APU. This ultra portable chip can handle high definition videos and this is where the 1215B scores pretty high. ASUS also added a USB 3.0 port for super high-speed transfers. the Eee PC 1215B has a plain matte-black exterior, which extends to the inside, save for the glossy keyboard deck which is very much similar to its predecessor. Weighing just less than 3.2 pounds it's comparatively light and is very much easy to carry. The Eee PC 1215B's chiclet keyboard is identical to the one on the 1215N, which means that a user would be able to type at a brisk pace with few errors. However, the 1215N's undersized right Shift key and worrisome flexing in the base are here as well. The touch pad that the 1215B possesses is pretty impressive. Its smooth and responsive and the larger real estate made performing multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and two-finger scrolling easier than on other ultraportables. Selecting text was also a cinch. The single silver bar beneath the touchpad feels a bit stiff at first, mainly because we are habituated to discrete mouse buttons. Coming to the display part, the glossy 12.1-inch, 1366 x 768-pixel display on the Eee PC 1215B is sharp and bright. Viewing angles a bit narrow, with colors washing out at approximately 45 degrees. The Speakers located on the front underside of the 1215B produces a clear and audible audio output. The Eee PC 1215B comes with a high-speed USB 3.0 port which is an added bonus for a notebook in this price range. Joining it on the right side are a USB 2.0 port, Ethernet, mic and headphone jacks, and a Kensington lock slot. The left side houses another USB 2.0 port, HDMI, a VGA port, and a 2-in-1 card reader. The 1215B uses a dual-core 1.6-GHz AMD E-350 Fusion APU with 2GB of RAM unlike the 1215N which pairs a ual-core 1.8-GHz Intel Atom D525 CPU with an Nvidia Ion GPU. The 1215B also left behind the HP Pavilion dm1z (2,198) and the Sony VAIO YB Series (2112), both of which use the same processor as the 1215B in terms of performance. The battery is also pretty good and the run time lasted around 35 minutes more than the category average when it was put to test.
