There were a few ultrabooks that caught tech buffs' attention at the IFA 2011 but there's one that people were looking forward to even prior to the said event: the Acer Aspire S3 series of ultrabooks. This series includes both an 11.6-incher and 13.3-incher. The designs are clearly inspired by the MacBook Air, which is already obvious as seen on leaked images early on.
There are a few points noticed at the design:
- There's a solid chiclet keyboard
- Power button integrated into the screen hinge
- A large but yet unproven buttonless trackpad along with a large 13.3-inch glossy display
- Battery is integrated
- Connectivity is sparse – on the sides there's nothing but a docking port of some kind (if not the card reader) and a headphone jack on the opposing side.
- On the back resides the power plug and full sized USB (not blue, so 2.0?) and HDMI ports.
Specs:
- Intel 2nd-gen Core i3 – i7 processors (Core i5-2467M and i7-2637M are available)
- 4GB of DDR3 RAM
- HDD or SDD storage options
- Bluetooth 4.0
- webcam
- Dolby Home Theatre
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
- A 6-hour battery
- Weighs 1.3 kg
Price starts at $799.
