Installing Ubuntu 11.10 in Ac100

Toshiba AC100

The Toshiba Ac100 flopped because people are not just ready for an Android-powered netbook…last year. The AC100 has 10-inch display with 1024×600 pixel display. It runs with a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. It's made to host Google Android OS, however its lack of Android Market support and touchscreen seems unintuitive for an Android-powered device.

Some folks still bought the hardware and installed other operating systems like Ubuntu 10.10 Linux. It is now possible to install the latest build of Ubuntu, the 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. Visit here for the instructions and download here for the prebuilt images. This Ubuntu flavor is not yet finished, it is still in beta. It goes full late October. This is the most friendly Linux OS you could install in such laptop. The unit is not longer offered for sale. But used and some other old stock units can be found in eBay or somewhere else.
