ASUS Aims High for Its Transformer Prime

ASUS is ambitious in its plans for its new Transformer Prime based on rumors that they have contracted TPK to make extra touchscreens. ASUS is aiming to ship 350,000 to 400,000 tablets by the end of this year. ASUS is predicting 1.8 million tablets to be shipped all year. The Transformer Prime could represent as much as 1/5 of the ASUS sales by itself.

The figures would further send ASUS's status as one of the elite non-Apple tablet designers to have results improving over time. ASUS has counted mostly on price, severely undercutting Apple tablets with very similar features at launch. One of the distinct features of the Transformer line is the optional notebook dock, add-on.
