Eee PC 1218, 1015/1215 Prices Revealed, Asus Predicts More Shipment in 2010

Recently, Asus has launched several new Eee PC netbooks – the Eee PC 1218 and Eee PC 1015/1215. Now,  Asus has revealed prices of these new netbooks as reported by Digitimes.

In case you forgot already, the Eee PC 1218 shall run on Nvidia Ion chip, while the Eee PC 1015/1215 would have the usual Intel Atom CPU by virtue of it being released under the Eee PC Seashell series. Prices of these netbooks will be around $478-605.

The report also mentioned about Asustek's projection of shipping around 7-8 million Eee PCs to capture 20% of the global netbook market share for 2010. Asus CEO Jerry Shen wants his company to maintain its status of being the second largest netbook brand in 2010.

Mr. Shen also believed that the iPad will not really impact the netbook market since Apple's device has a different target market from netbooks.

He admits however that the netbook market will have a weaker growth this year since most of the major brands have already phased out their netbook lines.
