New Fujitsu Lifebook Has A Surprise Release

Fujitsu's T730 got released last May 14 with just a simple round of e-mails to the usual blogging sites and an update to the Fujitsu America website. Not exactly auspicious, but a good low-key intro for what is looking to be a very good low-key product. The T730 has some pretty interesting specs. The baseline processor for this model is an Intel Core i5 which can be upgraded to an i7 with an additional 150 dollars. The 12 inch display is back-lit and designed for wide-angles – it also has an active digitizer with a pen stylus for an input device. You start with 2 gigs of memory but it is upgradable up to 8 gigs. You also don't have to worry about storage – the 160 GB hard drive solves that problem. It also has full Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability. Several other features include a fingerprint sensor, spill-resistant keyboard and ambient light sensor. It even has a dust filter to make sure the insides don't get dirty. Finally, the T730 has a modular bay to support optical drives or another battery for longer work times.

Priced at $ 1869, this baby provides a lightweight alternative to the T900 with its 5 pounds. Compared to the T730's 3.9 pounds, the T900 is a monster to carry and wile the T730 maybe a bit heavier than the normal netbook, it knocks a pound off what you're usually expecting.
