CNN Money's Fortune is running an interesting report citing a chart in a report released by Morgan Stanley. Although not really the main subject of the report, but one of the findings of the said study is pointing out that the Apple iPad is affecting sales growth of netbooks and other devices including Apple's own iPod Touch, eReader, handheld videogame devices, and even notebooks.
The study pointed out that sometime in January, sales figures for netbooks decreased significantly. This was the time when Apple announced about the iPad. Although, it's not really quite certain whether this affected netbooks' sales, the shrinking trend re-appeared in April, just in time when Apple released the iPad.
Is the iPad affecting sales of the netbooks and these other devices? It's too early to tell. And besides, the iPad is not yet released internationally. Sales figures are based only on U.S. sales. Let's wait awhile before we make some conclusions. In the meantime, enjoy your netbooks or your iPad if you have either of the two or both.
