It looks like Acer wants to be ahead of the pack when it comes to releasing a netbook that will be powered by Google Chrome OS. Digitimes is reporting that Acer has been actually developing said Chrome OS-powered netbook as early as mid-2009. And if all things go well, we might be seeing the Acer netbook come out by the second half of 2010.
Acer Chairman JT Wang expressed optimism that his company will be the first to release a Chrome-based netbook, according to the report.
It will not be surprising if Acer achieved this target. After all, Acer was the first manufacturer to launch an Android-based netbook, which incidentally didn't quite do well in the netbook market.
Will Acer make it big this time with the Chrome OS-powered netbook? Only time can tell.
