The Kohjinsha DZ is a 10 inch laptop with an AMD Neo MV-40 processor, ATI Radeon graphics, and two screens. You can either operate the notebook in single-screen mode or you can slide one screen out from behind the other to use it in dual-screen mode.
The laptop has begun shipping in Japan, and WOW-POW picked up a unit from exporter Conics. The computer came with the English language version of Windows 7 installed, but it has a Japanese keyboard and some Japan-only features such as a 1seg TV tuner which is pretty much useless in other countries.
WOW-POW reports that the notebook weighs about 4 pounds, which is heavy for a netbook, but not bad for a machine with two screens. The 5200mAh battery is supposed to run for up to 4.5 hours. And some of the most intriguing features (aside from the dual displays) are located on the bottom of the machine. The access panel is easily removed by undoing a single screw. There are two RAM slots, which makes it easy to upgrade the Kohjinsha DZ to 4GB of memory. The hard drive can be easily slid out and replaced. And there's a USB port and a little groove under the hard drive for storing a USB peripheral such as a WiMAX or 3G adapter, making it incredibly easy to add extra functionality to this computer.
The only down side? The price. The Kohjinsha is only available in Japan. Conics sells it in the US for $1016.83 and up.
