Looking at Apple's sales in the past months, you might never guess at the economic problems faced in the United States. In October and November, Mac sales went up 21 percent. Laptop sales increased five percent, but desktop sales increased an incredible 74 percent.
I thought desktops were kind of becoming obsolete. Obviously, I thought wrong. Apparently there is a lot of demand for the 27-inch iMac. Could this perhaps be the cause of the shipping delay, instead of the recent explanation centering on screen problems?
This is made even more impressive in light of the fact that Apple sold a record 3.05 million Macs last quarter. And given the huge increase seen this quarter, it's quite possible that they could top their 2009 first quarter revenue of $10.2 billion.
