Samsung Overtakes Asustek's Netbook Shipment

Well, look who is busy shipping out thousands of netbooks this first quarter of 2010? Would you believe that it's Samsung? Is Samsung the new Asus?  If you are to base your answer to the fact that Samsung has overtaken Asus in terms of netbook shipment, well, indeed Samsung is the new Asus now.

According to Digitimes, Samsung Electronics has shipped 1.8 million netbooks during Q1 2010, almost the shipment that Acer has with only 100, 000 units separating them.

One of the reasons why Samsung was able to expand its share in the global market was the fact that it has adequate in-house supply of netbook components such as panels, DRAM and chips. It also benefitted from its relationship with telecom carriers.

Acer's shipment was around 1.9 million while Asustek managed to ship only around 1.5 million netbooks in the said quarter.
