The Eee PC T101MT is the first 10 inch convertible tablet style netbook from Asus. It started shipping this month, and EeeUser forum member phertiker picked one up and decided to swap out the hard drive for a solid state disk. While some netbooks have access panels on the bottom that make this kind of upgrade easy, it turns out the Eee PC T101MT isn't one of them.
Fortunately, after prying open the case, phertiker took a few pictures and wrote out some instructions that should make things easier for other folks who want to get at the hard drive or just disassemble the netbook to peek at its insides.
In a nutshell, you need to remove the keyboard, undo some screws on the bottom of the laptop and underneath the keyboard, and then carefully pry away the audio and video ports which also help to hold things in place. It sounds like the Eee PC T101MT isn't one of the easier netbooks to take apart, so you should probably avoid performing this kind of surgery unless you know what you're doing.
In other news, phertiker seems relatively happy with the computer's hardware, but he's less impressed with the software that ships with the US version of the netbook including Windows 7 Starter Edition.
