With all the misfortune and legal issues that have befallen Fusion Garage, you would think they would have at least gone to great lengths to make a product that proved they were not just so run-of-the-mill gadget maker. Not so, with their flagship JooJoo tablet getting some big thumbs down from Engadget's reviewers.
It's mostly software that's the issue here. While the home screen does give access to all your favorite sites, getting to just the web browser is a chore since you have to go through a website first to launch it. The keyboard also has a great feature: type in a comma, get a quotation mark. Seriously?
The OS runs around the browser too much despite the great hardware inside. There's no way to view media and images unless you go to a site that does those (and those will probably be online only, no love for stored data). The webcam also doesn't work with video chat sites, so no Chatroulette for you. And despite packing a scrumptious NVIDIA ION graphics chip, the tablet can't take advantage of it due to the outdated version of Flash it has.
Apple certainly puts a lot of thought into the software they pack in and tablet makers should do too as well. The operating system can make or break these devices unlike netbooks since tablets are expected to be easier to use with their touchscreen and won't be as customizable as other computers.
