Sony Xperia Tablet leaks out

A while back we heard that a new tablet from Sony had passed through the FCC, going by the model number of SGPT1211 which was dubbed to be a successor to the Sony Tablet S released last year. Based on a leaked slides, the SGPT1211 is the 16GB model of Sony's next tablet. The tablets will now fall under the Xperia brand which is currently used for their smartphones, including the Sony Xperia Ion. The tablet will be available in the above mentioned 16GB variant for $449.99 and will also be available with 32GB and 64GB of storage for $549.99 and $649.99 respectively.

The slides also give us more information about the upcoming Sony tablet. It will be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, feature a 9.4 inch display with a 1280 x 800 resolution and have an 8 megapixel rear facing camera and a 1 megapixel front facing camera. The 6000mAh battery included is said to last for 10 hours of web browsing via Wi-Fi, up from 5 hours on the first gen Sony Tablet S. The second gen Sony tablet also features Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, HDMI, DLNA, SD card slot and ST ports.

We can also see from the slides that the tablet will feature a similar wedge design to that of the Tablet S but, is around 42% thinner. One of the slides which indicates the differences between the first gen Tablet S and this second gen is that it will run ICS or later, so there is a chance that Sony could release this with Android Jelly Bean out the box. Which ever version of Android it does ship with however, as always there will be a few Sony tweaks, this time including a feature called "Guest Mode". This means that you can set the tablet up for others to use as a guest user and you are able to limit the number of apps available which could be useful if you were letting a child use it for example but, didn't want to allow them access to games such as GTA which is available on Google Play.

The source who leaked the photos claims to work for Sony and suggests a September release date. As well as the tablet, there are a number of accessories that will be available for the Sony tablet.
