Sharp Galapagos tablets coming to America

Sharp recently introduces a line of 5 and 10 inch tablets in Japan. The Sharp Galapagos tablets are equipped with WiFi, 8GB of storage, and Google Android. What sets them apart from the crowd are their high resolution displays and Sharp's digital content stores thanks to partnerships Sharp has worked out with eBook and magazine publishers.

Now it looks like Sharp plans to sell the Galapagos tablets internationally, starting in the US. Eventually they'll be available in China, India, and other countries.

The 5.5 inch tablet has a 1024 x 600 pixel display while the 10.l8 inch model has a 1366 x 800 pixel screen. Most Android phones on the market today have 800 x 480 pixel or lower resolution screens, although we're starting to see Android tablets with higher resolution displays.

There's no word on the US pricing or launch details yet.
