New Taiwanese 3G/WiMax Netbook Packs VIA Nano CPU

Kinpo

Taiwanese manufacturer Kinpo Electronics showed off its new Kinpo N03 netbook Thursday, packing a VIA Nano and 3G/WiMax capability.

The device seems to be directed at the Chinese netbook market, as its 3G options include TD-SCDMA - a standard 3G option in the country.

Choosing the VIA Nano over the more popular Intel Atom netbook CPU was a curious choice, especially considering Intel's ramped up activity in China. However, VIA has some solid representation in Chinese netbooks and this release only adds fuel to its fiery competition with Intel.

The Kinpo N03 has an 11.6-inch screen, 1366 x 786 resolution, XP or Vista Home Basic, and up to 2 GB of DDR2 DRAM. It comes with a 1.3 megapixel webcam, either an HDD or SSD, and the choice of a 1.2 GHz or 1.3 GHz VIA CPU.

Pricing and availability are unknown for now.
