Guess How Much the Nokia 3G Booklet Would Cost?

Nokia_Booklet_3G_04_lowres

I admit that I'm one of those who got pretty excited when Nokia announced its 3G Booklet.  Nokia is well known for releasing highly affordable mobile phones so I was hoping that it would price its netbook rather competitively especially since the netbook market is already saturated with el cheapo netbooks.

But if Sascha of Netbooknews.de, who is citing reliable sources, the Nokia 3G Booklet may be priced around $799. What?! You got to be kidding me. Somebody has to tell Nokia that one of the characteristic of a netbook that made it big is its affordable price. Pricing their netbook at such a high price will not do them any good. Especially since they are coming too late into the game.

Even if the specs published by All Symbians are all true, the $799 price is still not worth it. You can practically buy two cheap netbooks to have the promised 12 hour battery life of the Nokia 3G Booklet.

  • Intel Atom Chipset (Z530 running at 1.6 Ghz). No fan, which means near silent running.
  • 120 GB hard disk
  • 3G / HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, plus integrated Bluetooth for local wireless communication
  • 12 hour battery life
  • 19.9 mm thick x 264 mm width x 185 mm depth
  • 10.1 inch glass HD ready display
  • Front facing video camera mounted, on top of the screen, for video calling
  • 1 x HDMI port (for HD video out), 1 x integarted SD card reader, 3 x USB ports, 1 x audio port
  • Integrated A-GPS
  • Stereo speakers mounted on the front right and left corners
