Digitimes reports that Taiwanese touch panel maker Young Fast Optoelectronics is working on an analog matrix resistive (AMR) display that can be used in netbooks. The screens would support multi-touch input and could be available before the end of the year, which means that they could show up in netbooks sporting Windows 7 (which features greater support for multitouch displays than Vista or XP) by late 2009 or early 2010.
No word on the pricing, but these aren't likely the kind of screens you're going to be able to order and retrofit into your netbook. They'll sell in bulk quantities to PC vendors looking to put together machines with multitouch capabilities.
