We knew it was coming – and now it's finally here. ViewSonic's ViewPad 10 Pro has finally hit the market and here's to hoping it won't crash and burn.
A 10-inch tablet running on a 1.5 GHz Oak Trail CPU, you can either run it on Android or Windows. Using a 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive multitouch display, it also boasts 2GB of memory, and up to 32GB of storage. Additional features are that it can handle 1080p HD video, an HDMI output, either 802.11b/g/n WiFi or Bluetooth, and a battery that can power it for up to 8 hours.
This baby has a hefty price tag though - a $599 model has Windows 7 Home Premium and Android 2.3 and has a 16GB solid state disk. The more expensive version at $699 model packs a bigger 32GB SSD and that has a 32GB SSD and uses Windows 7 Professional as well as Android 2.3.
One of the more unique features of the ViewPad is the way it uses Android. Instead of a dual-boot environment, it overlays the Android system over Windows. This means you can run Android apps and use Android features while Windows is still active. With a majority of touch-based apps using Android, this makes it possible to maximize Windows 7′s touch based interface.
Pre-oders are now available while the tablet has't directly hit store shelves yet,
