As expected, Acer has officially announced a new AMD-powered 10 inch netbook. The Acer Aspire One 522 will ship with a new AMD Fusion processor, and while I've seen a lot of announcements for laptops with the new AMD E-350 Zacate chip, this is one of the first devices I'm aware of that will instead use the lower power AMD C-50 Ontario APU.
The Ontario chip has a total power draw of just 9W, but still comes with ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics which means support for 1080p HD video playback, HDMI output, real-time image processing with color and contrast adjustments, and DirectX 11 graphics.
The mini-laptop features a 1280 x 720 pixel display, something I haven't seen on a netbook since the HP Mini 2133. WiFi and Ethernet connectivity come standard, and Acer will offer 3G and Bluetooth options.
The Acer Aspire One 522 will be available in black or green. There's no word on pricing or availability yet.
