AMD: More than 1 million Fusion chips shipped

AMD interim CEO Thomas Seifert says the company has shipped over a million of its new Fusion chips to partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba since launching the platform late last year. Those Fusion chips are low power Brazos chips which combine CPU and graphics onto a single chip.

We've already seen a number of laptop and netbook announcements from companies planning to bring computers to market using the 9W AMD Ontario chips or 18W AMD Zacate chips.

Of course, you have to put this number in perspective. Right now there's not a single consumer product actually shipping with an AMD Fusion processor, so it's a bit early to say whether AMD has a huge hit on its hands. But clearly the company has managed to get PC manufacturers excited about the new platform.
