Handheld Group announce Algiz XRW

Over in Sweden, The Handheld Group have announced their latest rugged device. We've previously seen a 7 inch rugged tablet from the company and now they've announced a 10 inch rugged netbook. The size of the device and it's durability against dust, water and drops puts the netbook in direct competition with the Panasonic Toughbook, which has also been designed to survive every day knocks and bumps and more.

Handheld's netbook is named the Algiz XRW and will come with a 10.1 inch display. It uses MaxView screen technology, making the display readable under direct sunlight. For working out and about, the netbook has an optional 3G modem, GPS navigation, along with the usual WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

A 64GB SSD is included in the Algiz XRW, along with 2GB of RAM and a 2GHz Intel Atom processor. These specs aren't the norm for a netbook and neither is the operating system. Instead of the standard Windows 7 Starter OS, The Algiz netbook comes with Windows 7 Ultimate, which is also rarely seen on laptops. The netbook will begin shipping in December but, pricing information is currently unknown.
