Netbook Sales Continues to Soar

Latest statistics from Display Search's "Quarterly Notebook PC Shipment and Forecast Report" shows that netbook sales increased to $3 billion in Q2 this year from $845 million of the same period last year.  That's a whooping 264% revenue increase. Comparing this data from Q1, it's still a big increase from around $2,241.

Netbook's share of the portable PC market is now at 11.7%. Still not that big compared to the traditional notebooks' share. But what is significant about these data is the fact that revenues from traditional notebooks continues to slowed down, registering a 15% decline.

The increase in revenues from netbooks may be well good but the problem is, this is not helping the overall revenue performance of the portable PC market. Netbooks as we all know have lower average selling price, so no matter how much they sell, it still not enough to boost the sales figures for the ultraportable PC industry in which netbooks are part of.
