Consumers Starting to Take Notice of Wireless Carriers Netbook Offerings

We've seen several attempts by various mobile wireless carriers to enter the lucrative netbook market.  But unfortunately, none of the major mobile carriers seemed get it right when it comes to their netbook bundle offerings. Do you agree? I hope not. Because it seems that consumers are starting to take interest with netbooks being offered by mobile wireless carriers, says a report by Compete.

According to Compete's data, consumer interest in netbooks grow to almost 1 million people monthly or equivalent to 26% growth. This figure is between the period January 2009 and June 2009 and covers visitor sin retail websites alone. Interestingly, what was non-existent in January for consumer interest at wireless carrier websites has now reached over 300,000 people a month.

The report also cited consumer interest gained by Verizon's HP Mini 1151NR offering which according to Compete received over 84,999 views. Although this does not mean that these people partake of the Verizon netbook offering, what is significant is the fact that consumers are developing interest with netbook.

While this may be a good sign for wireless mobile carriers who are  getting into the netbook game, it however poses a problem. Consumers tend to equate netbook pricing with that of the usual mobile phone pricing that mobile carriers are offering. And we all know that this is not true. Will this affect consumers final decision to purchase netbooks offered through mobile wireless carriers? That would be interesting to know especially now that the Holiday Shopping season is fast approaching.
