Microsoft Makes Upgrading XP Netbooks To Windows 7 Much Easier

Microsoft has been hard at work trying to figure out how to get XP netbook users to switch to Windows 7, and now the answered has been delivered.

The OS maker will add a tool to its online store to allow those who buy Windows 7 to boot it from a USB drive to upgrade the machine. Chris Flores, in an interview explained that he thinks this is the best solution:

"There are lots of XP Netbooks out there. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for the enthusiasts that want to do this."

The tool is available TODAY – the release date of Windows 7.

One difficulty with the plan is that it requires users to tweak BIOS to boot from the USB drive, which must also have 4 GB of space available.
