With the released of Windows 7, Asustek Chairman Jerry Shen is optimistic that netbook and notebook shipment of his company would increase from 12 million units in 2009 to more than 16 million units in 2010. Shen also predicts that global notebook shipments, including netbooks will increase to 180-190 million units in 2010 from 140 million units in 2009.
With these predictions, Jerry Shen is still confident that his company's target to become a global top-three vendor by 2011 is still achievable.
A few days after Windows 7 was released Shen is reporting that Asustek has shifted 30% of its Eee PC netbooks to Windows 7 OS. And he is expecting this to increase by 80% in the first quarter of 2010. He also said that most of these Eee PC's will be running on Intel Pine Trail-M Platform.
Shen also mentioned something about Asustek's touchscreen products saying that Asus will be limiting their units into 9 to 11 inch netbook models or the 20-inch and above all-in-one PCs.
