AmazePC offers barebones netbook in Italy

AmazePC has a decent assortment of 7 to 12 inch mini-laptops and mobile internet devices in its lineup. But Italian retail site Kelkoo has a listing for an AmazePC netbook that doesn't show up on the company's home page: A barebones model that ships without RAM, a hard drive, or an operating system.

This means users can choose their own components and operating system and aren't bound by the usual 1GB of RAM and 160GB restriction placed on most netbooks that ship with Windows XP. While that kind of freedom is nice, I would have expected it to result in a significantly cheaper netbook. Kelkoo is selling the AmazePC barebones system for about 210 Euros, which is nearly $310 US. You can pick up a full featured netbook with a hard drive, RAM, and operating system for that price.

AmazePC isn't the first company to launch a barebones netbook. OCZ's Neutrino DIY Netbook sells for about $269 in the US.
