PC World's Take on the Verizon Gateway LT2016u Bundle

For those of you who got excited about Verizon's upcoming netbook bundle, the Gateway LT2016u which would only cost you a $150 fee might want to pause and read about PC World's analysis of the deal.

According to PC World the Verizon-Gateway deal might not be a practical deal at all. If you would recall, the deal will require you to subscribe to Verizon Wireless plan for 2-years and you need to pay $150 only to get the netbook.

Among the reasons mentioned by PC World include the fact that the Gateway LT2016u is not the best among the lot of 10-inch netbooks we have around. It boasts of the usual Intel Atom N270 processor 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB of HDD. This is comparable to Amazon's deal on an Acer Aspire One D250 but minus the service contract.

Another reason is the two mobile broadband plans that Verizon is offering for the Gateway netbook – $40 and $60 a month with 250 MB monthly allowance and addition 10 cents per MB in excess of the cap, and 5GB plus 5 cents in excess respectively.

You do the math and tell us whether this is a good deal at all.
