So, it seems Asus has not done yet with its Eee PC 1000 series. Well at least for Asus Japan which just launched a new model – the Eee PC 1000HT. Nothing spectacular on this Eee PC though. In fact, it was rather a toned down version of other more advanced Eee PC 1000 models.
The Eee PC 1000HT boasts of your usual Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and Windows XP.
But unlike other Eee PC 1000 netbooks, the Eee PC 1000HT comes only with a 0.3 MP webcam (most 1000 netbooks come with 1.3MP), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, no n dear folks and a smaller type of 6-cell battery pack which is said to be capable of giving out 6 hours of good use.
Design-wise, it's the same chassis as most Eee PC 1000 series models.
Big difference has got to be the price. The Eee PC 1000HT is available in Japan for around $421, which is relatively cheap for 10-inch netbook.
No words yet as to whether this Eee PC is exclusive to the Japanese market or whether it will be released internationally.
