Nearly a year after introducing a 13 inch Windows 8 notebook with a detachable tablet portion, Asus has announced that the Transformer Book will finally be available for purchase in the US starting May 21st.
The Asus Transformer Book TX300 features a 13.3 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display, an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor, and 4GB of RAM.
The tablet portion of the computer houses a 128GB solid state disk. But there's also a hard drive in the keyboard portion, which adds 320GB to 500GB of additional storage.
You also get longer battery life when the tablet is docked to the keyboard, since there are batteries in both the tablet and keyboard.
Asus hasn't revealed the official price for the 13 inch Transformer Book yet, but MacMall has been taking orders for a model with a Core i7 CPU for $1430 for a while.
Hopefully the official launch means more stores will carry the Transformer Book, and offer the cheaper Core i5 option.
Asus is also expected to launch a 10 inch Transformer Book with a much lower price tag of around $399 in the future.
