It's probably time for Apple to consider geting into the netbook market. Well, at least we have to compare the popularity among incoming students of netbooks against MacBooks, it seems pretty obvious that netbooks has won the heart of the younger generations. Thanks to the netbooks many qualities including portability, ease of use and of course the price. Hence, it's no wonder that incoming students for this school year in the U.S. prefers buying netbooks, rather than full-sized PC laptops and MacBooks.
According to the latest Gadgetology study conducted by consumer electronics marketplace Retrevo, 34% of their respondents are planning to buy netbooks, 49% are buying PC laptops and majority of them are not getting a Mac.
That hurts a bit , right Apple?
Some of the reasons pointed out by those who prefer to buy netbooks include longer battery life, smaller size, lighter weight and price.
The survey was conducted from a random sample of Retrevo's 4 million monthly visitors. So we can pretty much rest assured that consumers were well represented. There ere 300+ respondents who were distributed across gender, age, income and location across the U.S.
I can't help but wonder if the survey holds true across all consumer electronics market. For if it does, may be it's time for Apple to consider making their own "MacNetbook."
