Samsung updates its low-end Windows 8 tablet line with ATIV Tab 3

Samsung is updating it's Windows 8 tablet lineup with the ATIV Tab 3. It's a 10.1 inch tablet with a 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage — just like the last ATIV Tab.

What's new is that the ATIV Tab 3 now comes with Microsoft Office Home & Student preloaded and offers up to 8.5 hours of battery life.

Samsung is also playing up new software called "SideSync" which lets you connect the tablet to an Android smartphone and use your tablet's keyboard to respond to text messages on your mobile device, look at maps on a larger display, edit files, or perform other actions on a bigger screen.

The ATIV Tab 3 has a micro USB port, micro HDMI port, and microSD card slot and a 720p camera. It measures 0.32 inches thick and weighs about 1.2 pounds. Samsung says it's one of the thinnest Windows 8 tablets around.

It's expected to launch in the US in early August for around $699, with that price including a keyboard case.
