Lenovo IdeaPad S210 11.6 inch touchscreen notebook on the way for $429

Lenovo's IdeaPad S210 will be the company's cheapest touchscreen laptop when it launches this summer. It's a Windows 8 notebook with an 11.6 inch display and a starting price of $429.

At that price you get a model with an Intel Celeron processor, but the company will also offer models of this 3.1 pound laptop with an Intel Pentium or Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge processor. Just don't expect to find a new 4th-generation "Haswell" chip in this budget laptop.

While there's no mistaking the IdeaPad S210 for a premium laptop like the company's new ultrabooks, this 11.6 inch notebook is reasonably compact, measuring just under 0.9 inches thick. And unlike most ultrabooks, it has a user-replaceable battery.

The plastic case feels pretty solid, but there's a bit of flex if you pres down hard in the center of the keyboard.

Lenovo only plans to offer a 24Whr, 4 hour battery in the US at launch, but internationally a 38Whr, 6 hour battery may also be available.

The notebook supports up to 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of hybrid storage. The base model has a 500GB hard drive and 8GB of flash storage, while higher-end models will have 1TB hard drives with 16GB SSDs.

The screen is an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display with support for 10-point multitouch, and the IdeaPad S210 supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Ethernet connections. It has a USB 3.0 port, a USB .0 port, HDMI, aand audio jacks.
