Lenovo IdeaPad S210 Touch 11.6 inch notebook launches in July (in Japan)

Lenovo plans to launch a new portable notebook with an 11.6 inch display this summer. It's called the IdeaPad S210 Touch, and as you probably guessed from the name, it has a touchscreen display.

We first heard about the IdeaPad S210 last month, and now Lenovo has announced that the notebook will be available in Japan starting in July. There's no word on a US launch date or price, but the company does have a place-holder for the notebook on its US website.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S210 appears to be a budget notebook, so don't expect ultrabook-like specs. Lenovo will offer the laptop with a choice of an Intel Celeron 1017U or Intel Core i3-3227u Ivy Bridge processor.

It features a 1366 x 768 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and 16GB of solid state storage. The notebook has 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, Ethernet, 1 USB 3.0, and 1 USB 2.0 port.

Interestingly, Lenovo is only promising up to 3 hours of battery life — and that's from the Celeron-powered model. The company says the Core i3 version will top out at just 2.6 hours of battery life.

The good news is that the 3-cell battery is user replaceable, so you might be able to carry a spare if you need more run time than that. Hopefully Lenovo will also offer a 6-cell battery option.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S210 measures 11.8″ x 8.1″ x 0.9″ and weighs 3.1 pounds. It'll be available in black or white.
