Back in January, Asus rolled out a netbook line in January, and introduced Intel Atom Cedar Trail processors running in their netbooks. The PC manufacturer also unveiled a new product design for its Eee PC lineup. The Eee PC will drop the seashell case design. It would be replaced by the "flare" design.
The company is also updating some of its older netbooks, seashell design included, same body different brains.
Asus netbooks had been popular because of its seashell-inspired design, meaning, when the lid is closed they were thin and pointy at the front and thicker and with rounded edge at the rear.
These new flare netbooks like the Eee PC 1025C and 1025 CE has similar shape. They also have recessed keyboard area so that both of the palm rest and above the keyboard area are higher than the keyboard. Not really a dramatic change, but that's just really the difference.
The Eee PC 1011CX is a combination of two styles, they have raised palm rest however the area above the keyboard is not raised.
The most interesting thing is, most of the Eee PC 1011PX design comes from the last year's Eee PC 1011PX. It just swaps out the Intel N455/N570 with the 1.6GHz Atom N2600.
This update should lead to a slight performance boost while reducing energy consumption. However, Asus states that both of the netbooks could have 11 hours of autonomy because last year's model have a 56Whr battery while the update uses 48Whr battery.
The Eee PC 1011CX has a 10.1 inch screen with 1024×600 resolution. Connectivity ports include VGA, HDMI, 3 USB 2.0 ports and an Ethernet jack. Dimensions include 10.3″x7″x1.4″ and it weighs around 2.8 pounds with a 6-cell battery. There is a 3-cell battery option too.
This netbook will also be available with a gig of RAM to 2GB of RAM. You can also choose between 320GB or 500GB HDD. There is WiFi and Bluetooth, Bluetooth 3.0 is available on some models.
