The Malata R108T Touchscreen Tablet Netbook

Chinese manufacturer Malata has introduced a new touchscreen tablet netbook called the Malata R108T, packing a rotating 10″ 1024 x 600 pixel screen and other standard-issue specs like a 1.6 GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1 GB of memory, and a 160 GB HDD. The machine is priced at $435 – $40 cheaper than the ASUS Eee PC T91, whose screen is only 8.9″.

Other features include Wi-Fi, a webcam, VGA, audio i/o, two USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader and 3400 mAh battery. The Malata R108T comes with Windows 7.

The machine has one major downside: it lacks support for portrait-orientation use. If the netbook gets over to the US or Europe that could be easily fixed with screen rotation apps, but it's still a strange deficit that's perhaps made up for by the price tag.

The Malata R108T comes in Ferrari Red, Piano Black, Coffee, Gold and Champagne.
