Want a nice, compact netbook for less than $200? Your options are still a little limited, even with all the Black Friday deals going on. If you're ok with a Ubuntu system, Dell has the Vostro A90 on sale for just $184 right now.
The system ships with an Intel Atom N270, 1GB DDR2 memory, an 8GB SSD, 8.9" 1024×600 LCD display, 802.11b/g wireless, 35WHr 4-cell battery, and Ubuntu 8.04. I'd personally recommend at least moving up to a Ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix, but this still isn't a bad deal for a basic netbook.
If the 8GB stock drive feels a little cramped, Dell will upgrade you to a more capacious 16GB for another $50. Windows isn't available as an option, but DIY types certainly won't have any trouble installing via a USB key.
