MeeGo netbook OS is mostly tablet ready

Sure, the folks behind the MeeGo Linux operating system plan to launch a version specifically designed for tablets soon. But you know what? It looks like the netbook version of the software works pretty well on tablets today.

OpenAOS went ahead and installed MeeGo on an Archos 9 tablet, which originally shipped with Windows installed. The tablet has an Intel Atom Z515 CPU and integrated GMA 500 graphics. It's actually pretty netbook-like. The main difference is there's no keyboard, just a touchscreen display.

It turns out that MeeGo works pretty well. The only piece of hardware that's not supported at the moment is WiFi — which is kind of a dealbreaker. But a fix for that problem may be on the way.
