The Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator is a PCI Express card that you can throw into a number of netbooks or other devices to enable 1080p HD video playback on a computer that normally wouldn't have enough processing power to handle high resolution video. While the original card wasn't exactly enormous, it looks like Broadcom's second generation Crystal HD video accelerator is about half the size of the original model.
The first generation card was called the BCM70012, while the new model is the BCM70015. It looks like while the BCM70012 required a full sized mini PCI Express slot, the new video accelerator can fit in a PC that only has room for a half sized PCI-e card.
It doesn't look like you can purchase a Broadcom BCM70015 card to manually upgrade an existing netbook just yet. But it might not be too long before we start to see these cards pop up on eBay. Th new video accelerator is already shipping with the Asus Eee PC 1005PR netbook.
